How long does this ear ringing last?
Posted In: Ringing Causes by admin
so i was without headphones for my ipod for like 4 months and i just bought some more this week. i was listening to to it for like 2 hrs straight with the volume at max. so i took the headphones and out, and there has been a ringing in my ears for like the last 20 min. i know its because of the high volume, but is it suppose to last this long..how long does it last?

hi
i know you probably wont listen to me but you must NEVER listen to music on your headphones again.
in july 2007 i got my first ipod i had those in-ear-headphones after every now and again going around listening to my brand new ipod i started getting ringing in my ears so i stopped wearing for a while but would start again a month or so later now i have permantly ringing ears and they only get louder with time.i get almost NO SLEEP (and ivgone a little bit bad!) thats just the tip of the health symptoms
i am now partially deaf in one ear as well.
the thing is i LOVE music i always have but the worst thing i ever did was buy a ipod and listen to it with those damned in-ear headphones.
my point is if you experience ringing in the ears you should stop listening to music on your ipod otherwise as with me you will never again get a decent’s night sleep again .
It’s the sign of tinnitus which means ear ringing. Don’t ever listen to your ipod max volume for that long ever again. If you do you might end up with tinnitus which makes lots of effort to get rid off.. please listen and don’t you ever listen to the music at max volume and a long time EVER AGAIN… I’ll say it again you’ll end up with tinnitus…
Hate to tell you this, but if you have ringing after that, you’ve caused permanent hearing damage. It could be permanent…. or it could only last a day or so. Either way, you are making a very bad decision to wear those headphones on full blast. I know iPods go over 85 dB, and anything over that can and will cause hearing loss within a couple hours or LESS.
If you want to conserve your hearing, turn it down and leave it there. If it’s too loud around you, don’t listen. The higher you turn that volume, the less time you can listen without causing permanent damage
The max volume on an iPod is 115 db… and the amount of safe exposure PER DAY for that volume is… (according to OSHA) 15 minutes. After that you are causing permanent damage to the hair cells in your cochlea. And after those hair cells die, they don’t come back EVER.
Anywho… be smart. Turn down the volume and try to keep it at 50% or so. If you need to turn it over 75%, it’s too loud and you need to just not listen.
After kids starting using iPods… there has been a 400% increase in hearing loss of FOURTH graders. I can only imagine what the increase is for teens and 20-somethings. You don’t want hearing aids by the time you’re 30… believe me. It is something you need to take seriously now.
